Minnesota Wild Trades Pat Maroon to Boston Bruins

The Minnesota Wild have traded 35-year-old forward Pat Maroon to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a conditional 2026 sixth-round pick and Nick Toporowski. The Wild originally traded for Maroon, sending a seventh-round pick in the 2024 draft to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Maroon is in the last year of a two-year contract with a cap hit of $800k.

Maroon was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers during the 6th round of the 2007 draft (161st overall). He was with the organization for three years but never played at the NHL level with the Flyers. He made his NHL debut on October 25, 2011, after being traded to the Anaheim Ducks.

Known as a character guy, Maroon brings a physical presence. It isn’t a surprise that he is being traded to a playoff team. Maroon previously won three Stanley Cups in consecutive years (once with the St. Louis Blues and twice with the Lightning). While he isn’t known as a prolific scorer, he’s had a lift to his stats during his stint in Minnesota. In his 49 games with the Wild during the 2023-24 season, he has 16 points (four goals and 12 assists). He plays left wing.

During 13 seasons in the NHL, Maroon has played for seven different teams: Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues, Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Minnesota Wild. He has played 778 games in the NHL and put up 304 points (121 goals and 183 assists).
