Montreal Canadiens Re-Sign Jesse Ylonen

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Monday morning that they have re-signed forward Jesse Ylonen to a one-year, two-way deal worth $775,000. Ylonen was another one of Montreal’s youngsters who took advantage of a Montreal team that led the league with the most man games lost due to injury last season. Last season the 23-year-old forward split his season between the NHL and AHL, playing in 37 NHL games, putting up six goals and ten assists for 16 points in 39 games, and putting up 11 goals, and 21 assists for 32 points in 39 games. Ylonen is another one of Montreal’s young core, and with Montreal up against the cap, this is a smart move for the franchise. I expect this season to be like last season for Ylonen, and I would expect him to start the season in Laval but will find his way into the Habs lineup at some point during the regular season. Ylonen was a second-round draft pick by Montreal in the 2018 NHL Draft.
