Montreal Canadiens sign Riley Kidney to 3-year Entry Level Contract

The Montreal Canadiens have agreed to terms with their 2021 2nd round pick, Riley Kidney, on a 3-year entry-level contract. The contract pays Kidney $750,000 in 2022-23 and sees an increase to $775,000 from 2023-2025 at the NHL level. There is a signing bonus of $92,500 each year. At the AHL level, Kidney will earn $80,000 per year.

This season Kidney set career highs in goals, assists, and points. 100 points in 66 games for Acadie-Bathurst Titan. He ranked 7th in QMJHL, scoring with 100 points. As a Titan, he had 171 points (48 goals, 123 assists) in 158 games. He was drafted 11th overall by the Titan in the 2019 QMJHL Draft.

The playoffs for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan start Thursday, May 5th, against the Halifax Mooseheads at 7:00 pm Atlantic time. Last year in the 2021 playoffs, Kidney had 17 points (2 goals, 15 assists) in 9 games. Kidney will once again be relied upon heavily to get it done in the playoffs for the Titan. He definitely gives off that playmaker player type.
