Nashville Predators Make Roster Cuts

The Nashville Predators picked up a 6-0 win on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning behind goals from Vinnie Hinostroza, Philip Tomasino, Kieffer Bellows, Tommy Novak, Jonathan Marchessault, and Ozzy Wiesblatt. Juuse Saros got the whole game stopping all 23 shots he faced. Nashville will return to the ice on Wednesday against the Carolina Hurricanes, they have two more games against the Hurricanes including Wednesday, and then one more game on Monday, October 7th against the Lightning before the regular season begins. Today they made some cuts to their training camp roster as they get the number down to 28 as forward Kieffer Bellows and Vinnie Hinostroza as well as goalie Matt Murray have all been assigned to Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.

Kieffer Bellows

Bellows is in his first season with the Predators, last season in the AHL in 52 games he had 49 points coming on 27 goals and 22 assists, he was a plus 13 and in the Toronto Marlies playoffs, he played in three games without recording a point and was a minus one. This preseason with Nashville he’s played in two games recording a goal he finished as an even plus/minus, he had six shots, two penalty minutes, two blocks, and three hits.  

Vinnie Hinostroza

Hinostroza last season spent time between the NHL and AHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins, in 14 NHL games he recorded three points on a goal and two assists and was a minus-three. In the AHL in 42 games he had 35 points on 16 goals and 19 assists; he was a plus one. In the playoffs, he played in two games recording three points all on assists. In two games this preseason he’s had two points both coming on Saturday with a goal and an assist, he was a plus three and five shots.

Matt Murray

Murray last season in one game with the Dallas Stars got a win and a shutout. In the AHL he made 31 appearances going 14-15-2 with a 3.02 goals-against average and a .896 save percentage. He’s only played in one game this preseason stopping 13 of his 15 shots in 30:52 minutes.
