Chicago Blackhawks News & Notes:

The Blackhawks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-1 win in Tampa over the Lightning on Tuesday night. Chicago improved to 6-15-3 on the road with the victory. With 37 points on the season only the San Jose Sharks (36) have fewer points this season.

Carolina Hurricanes News & Notes:

Newcomers Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall both got points, and Andrei Svechnikov added two goals and an assist in the Hurricanes’ 4-0 shutout of the Rangers at MSG on Tuesday night. Players To Watch:

Chicago Blackhawks

Connor Bedard leads the Blackhawks in points with 14 goals and 30 assists in 50 games. Bedard scored a highlight reel goal in the victory over Tampa on Tuesday with a short-side snipe into the top corner with tremendous accuracy. If Chicago hopes to turn their fortunes around they’re going to have to surround Bedard with more options to help him carry some of the offensive burden.

Carolina Hurricanes

Mikko Rantanen picked up his first point for Carolina in the team’s most recent victory. Rantanen has 8 shots and is a +2 through two games with the Hurricanes. The production will come as he’s getting plenty of scoring chances playing with fellow Fin, Sebastian Aho. The pair will be Alternate Captains during the 4 Nations Faceoff in February, with Stanley Cup Champion Aleksander Barkov fulfilling the role of Captain.
