Columbus Blue Jackets News & Notes: 

Columbus had lost two in a row since being the hottest team in hockey but bounced back with an impressive 5-1 victory in Toronto against the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night. The Blue Jackets moved into the first wild-card spot with the victory and hold a one-point lead over Ottawa as they travel to Carolina to take on the Hurricanes tonight. This is the fourth and final meeting between these two teams this season, with Columbus taking two of three so far. The home team has won every matchup in the series. 

Carolina Hurricanes News & Notes: 

The Hurricanes hope to extend their winning streak to four games as they host the Blue Jackets tonight. Carolina is 12-4-2 against the Metropolitan Division this season and is almost impossible to beat when they score 3+ goals in a game with a record of 27-4-2.

Adam Fantilli had his first career hat trick in the Blue Jackets 5-1 win over Toronto with his Mom in the stands. The 20-year-old from Nobleton, Ontario, has 26 points (14g, 12a) in 48 games and is only one point away from tying his career high in points set a season ago. 

Carolina Hurricanes

Jesper Kotkaniemi scored both goals in the Hurricanes 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old from Forssa, Finland, has 22 points (9g, 13a) in 48 games for the Hurricanes. Kotkaniemi has two goals and one assist in the three previous matchups against the Blue Jackets.
