HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Leafs and Panthers haven’t faced off since November 28th, 2023 in a close game that ultimately went the Leafs way 2-1 in a shootout. The Panthers have had a solid season and continue to build momentum and look like a scary team to play against in a playoff series. The Leafs have become more physical and therefore should be tougher to play against, but will need to continue to play well defensively to shut down the Florida offense.

LEAFS QUICK LOOK (42-22-9)

3rd in the Atlantic, 10th in the NHL

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Auston Matthews scored his 60th goal of the season last game and still has 9 games to go in the season. Matthews has been on a tear this season and will look to continue being a factor on the ice both offensively and defensively. Matthews is a truly elite player who can score in many different ways, and his next goal will mark a career-high for him.
  • Conor Timmins has stepped into the lineup as of late and performed at a high level. Timmins has 3 assists in his last 5 games in limited minutes, but with Rielly close to a return, he will need to continue playing well to be called upon again. Look for Timmins to be a difference-maker tonight while limiting his defensive mistakes.
  • Connor Dewar scored his first goal with the Leafs against Washington on Thursday. Dewar isn’t necessarily known for his offense, but rather for his defensive skill. The penalty kill has improved with Dewar, and that’s even with multiple key injuries. Dewar also adds physicality to his game and will look to continue playing his playstyle tonight to help shut down the Panthers.
