NHL Game Preview: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New Jersey Devils | 04/11/2024

Toronto, ON – The Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils tonight in the second half of a home-and-home series. The Leafs took the first game from the Devils on Tuesday with a 5-2 victory. The loss for the Devils along with other teams winning ultimately eliminated the Devils from playoff contention, but the Devils will still look to finish out their 2023-2024 campaign strong, while the Leafs also look to finish the season strong.

LEAFS QUICK LOOK (46-23-9)

3rd in the Atlantic, 9th in the NHL

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Joel Edmundson will be returning to the lineup tonight after being injured blocking a shot. Edmundson has played his physical playstyle and has kept traffic out from the front of the net. Edmundson will look to do more of the same, keeping the Devils’ offense away from the net while limiting their shot attempts.
  • Ilya Lyubushkin will also be drawing back into the lineup after not playing the last game. McCabe and Timmins are both sitting tonight as load management has started in Toronto. Lyubushkin plays a physical game and has mostly been paired with Rielly. He will look to continue to play a simple game and move the puck out of his own end well.
  • William Nylander is hovering around the 100-point pace but had a goal taken off the board last game and now hasn’t recorded a point in the last two games. Sitting at 1 point in his last 5 games, Nylander will need to have some offensive success these last four games if he wants to get the final 4 points he needs to break past 100 points on the season. This has been a career year for Nylander and he has historically played well in the playoffs and will look to build some momentum here and into the playoffs.
