The St. Louis Blues scored five unanswered goals against the Winnipeg Jets to defeat the Jets 5-1 to tie the series 2-2.

Game Story

The Winnipeg Jets didn’t waste time scoring the opening goal, and unfortunately, their only goal of the game as Kyle Connor scored on his backhand to give Winnipeg a lead just past the halfway point of the first period.

As time wound down, it seemed like Winnipeg was going to take a 1-0 lead into the second period, but the trend of letting in a goal in the dying seconds of the first period continued as Jake Neighbours scored the 1-1 tying marker with 23 seconds left in the first period.

The second period got off to a slower start, but Winnipeg continued to play a strong game up until this point, even with a 1-1 tie.

However, Tyler Tucker scored the go-ahead goal for the Blues, and it was the start of a momentum shift for the Blues. Tucker’s slapshot from the blue line beat Hellebuyck’s low blocker side, and the Blues capitalized on this.

Brayden Schenn put the dagger into the Jets as he scored the insurance marker. Schenn walked in front of the net, and Hellebuyck couldn’t seem to capture the loose puck. Schenn got the wrist shot high to beat the Jets’ netminder and give St. Louis a comfortable lead.

Not too long after Schenn’s goal, Justin Faulk got on the board with a one-timer into heavy traffic that hit a Jets defender and put the Blues up 4-1 late in the second period.

The Blues entered the third period with a commanding 4-1 lead and a chance to push the Jets into a corner, which is an unfamiliar position for Winnipeg, considering their level of play in the 2024-25 season.

Robert Thomas scored 2:01 into the third period on a backhand shot that beat Connor Hellebuyck and ended his night early yet again.

The Blues pushed the Jets to the brink in the third period by dominating them defensively. St. Louis put the bow on completing the two-game sweep of the current home stretch of this seven-game series.
