ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades completed the sweep of the Adirondack Thunder Saturday night at Hertz Arena in front of a sellout crowd of 7,648 fans. The Florida Everblades rebranded themselves as the Skunk Apes for Saturday’s game; the rebranding is done once each season and is a fan favorite.
As with every game this series, there was a goal within the first two minutes of the game and, for the second time, the Thunder struck first as Ryan Smith (19) beat Cam Johnson at 1:27. The Everblades scored a power-play goal at 18:24 of the second when Oliver Chau (14) mashed home a rebound in front of the net. Luke Santerno (5) was left alone in front of the Thunder net, and he backhanded a rebound past Jeremy Brodeur, putting the Everblades in front at 17:10 in the third period. Bobo Carpenter (20) sealed the win with an empty netter at 18:45. Cam Johnson took his third straight win, making 20 saves on 21 shots for a .952 save percentage. Jeremy Brodeur made 41 saves on 43 shots for a .953 save percentage. Luke Santerno was named First Star of the Game for his one goal and one assist. Santerno has scored two goals and five assists in his four games for the Everblades since his trade from the Kansas City Mavericks. The Everblades play at home on Wednesday against the Orlando Solar Bears before hitting the road.
