CEDAR PARK, Texas – Friday night, the Texas Stars defeated the visiting Chicago Wolves 5-2 in front of over 6,000 teddy bear-wielding fans.

The excitement was high in the first period. With every shot the Stars took, fans prepared to make it rain teddy bears, but it was not to be this period as the only goal came from Chicago’s Ryan Wagner. The wait was over less than two minutes into the second period as Mavrik Bourque put one past ex-Star’s goaltender Adam Scheel, sending thousands of stuffed animals sailing through the air and onto the ice. After a brief teddy bear clean-up, Antonio Stranges would give the Stars the lead, and they would hold that lead into the third period. The Stars would add to that with a couple of power-play goals from Oskar Back and Matej Blumel and one short-handed empty net goal from Fredrik Karlstrom. Chicago’s Ryan Wagner would get his second goal of the night and final goal of the game late in the third period. Matt Murray stopped 30 of 32 shots, and Adam Scheel 33 of 37.
The Three Stars of the Night were Mavrik Bourque, Oskar Back, and Antonio Stranges.
