ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rochester Americans gave their fans an entertaining match on Wednesday against the Cleveland Monsters, coming out on top 6-1.

The Amerks got off to a hot start a few minutes into the game when Graham Slaggert scored a shorthanded goal unassisted. Multiple penalties were given up by the Amerks in the first, but their penalty kill was strong and did not allow any goals. Mason Jobst scored before the end of the period to give the Amerks a two goal lead.

Five minutes into the second period, Tyson Kozak scored, and then seven seconds later Isak Rosen scored another for the Amerks. After these back to back goals, the Monsters changed goalies. Jet Greaves got the rest of the night off, and Zach Sawchenko was sent between the pipes. Later in the period Zach Metsa got another for the Amerks, giving them a five goal lead going into the third. The Amerks amassed 40 shots on the goal by the end of the second – the Monsters with 16.

Just over a minute into the third, Chris Wilkie scored the first and only goal of the game for the Monsters. Noah Ostlund scored his first career AHL goal for the Amerks – the final goal of the game.

Michael Houser looked great in net for the Amerks, stopping 25 of 26 shots faced. Greaves was taken out having stopped 27 of 31 shots faced, and Sawchenko wrapped up the night stopping 16 of 18 shots faced.
