SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Friday night, the San Diego Gulls met for the first game of a two-game series against the visiting Iowa Wild.

The Wild struck first with a goal from Caedan Bankier at 4:38. The Gulls answered with a pair from Nikita Nesterenko (8:06) and Chase De Leo (18:54). In the third period, Iowa’s Jake Lucchini picked up his 10th goal of the season, tying the game at 5:41. Both teams were unable to win it in overtime, which forced a shootout.  Tied at one goal each, Gull’s Brayden Tracey scored the winning shootout goal to give San Diego a 3-2 victory.
