ESTERO, Fla – The Florida Everblades looked to even the first-round series with the Jacksonville Icemen 2-2 on Friday Night. The two teams split the first two games in Jacksonville, and the Icemen won the first game at Hertz Arena and game three, 4-3 in overtime. A crowd of 4,874 left the arena disappointed as the Icemen exploded in the second period, scoring three times. They would add two more goals in the third for a 5-0 win and take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. Goaltender Matt Vernon recorded his second shutout of the series as the Everblades’ offense and special teams struggled. The two teams play game four on Saturday night at Hertz Arena. If necessary, the series will return to Jacksonville for games on Monday and Tuesday.
