WORCESTER, Mass – Wednesday night, the Worcester Railers faced the visiting Maine Mariners. Quinn Ryan scored the game-winning goal 4:34 into overtime, giving the Railers a 5-4 win over the Mariners. This was Ryan’s first game back from injury, and first goal since the opening game of the season for the Railers.
The Mariners opened the scoring on a goal by former Railers Jimmy Lambert, coming at 3:40 into the first period. Worcester’s captain Anthony Repaci would tie the game shortly after at the 5:51 mark. The Mariners would take a 2-1 lead with a goal from Alex Kile coming at the 11:30 mark of the first period.

Worcester started the scoring in the second period, tying the game 31 seconds into play, on a goal by Ashton Calder. The Railers would take their first lead of the game, 3-2 at 8:38 mark of the second, with Ashton Calder scoring his second goal of the game on a shorthanded breakaway feed from Artyom Kulakov. Daylan Kuefler would add another score on the power play for the Railers, pushing the lead to 4-2 at 14:15 of the second period. Jimmy Lambert would bring the Mariners back to within a one-goal deficit, beating Worcester goalie Henrik Tikkanen’s high glove side, making the score 4-3 going to the third period.

The third-period scoring had the Mariners tying the game on a goal by Reid Stefanson, coming at the 8:08 mark. This was the only goal of the period, forcing an overtime period in which the Railers took the victory.
