After a scoreless first period, Lombardi broke the 0-0 tie with a backhanded pass from Dominik Shine after 4:05 in the second period. The Manitoba Moose’s lone goal would come on a rebound shot from Tyson Empey, tying the game at 1-1 with 16:08 left in the third period. Lombardi would once again hit the back of the net with the game-winning goal on a breakaway, sending the puck right past the right leg of Domenic DiVincentiis, with 11:54 left in the contest. The Griffins’ defense alongside some great saves from Sebastian Cossa, would seal the game, putting the Griffins at 3-1 to start the season.

Sheldon Dries skated in his 400th career professional game. The three stars of the game were number one, Amadeus Lombardi (two goals), number two, Sebastian Cossa (W, 29 saves), and number three, Domenic Divincentiis (L, 22 saves).
