CEDAR PARK, Texas – Sunday evening, after going down two goals in the first period, the Texas Stars scored five unanswered goals to defeat the visiting Manitoba Moose 5-2 for the second time in two nights.

Parker Ford opened the scoring for the Moose on the second power-play of the night when he redirected a wrist shot from Elias Salomonsson past Magnus Hellberg. Ben King put the Moose up 2 goals when he tapped in an empty net goal after the puck took an odd bounce off the end wall, leaving Hellberg stranded behind his net. Manitoba would take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Stars Antonio Stranges would get the lone goal in the second period when he put a wrist shot from the top of the right circle past the left glove of Manitoba netminder Thomas Milic. Despite three power-play opportunities for Manitoba and the Moose having outshot the Stars 16-4 in the period, they could not get anything past Hellberg.

Lian Bichsel tied the game 2-2 at 6:05 in the third period with a slap shot from the blue line.  Kyle McDonald gave the Stars the lead with only 3:23 left in the third period when he batted in a loose puck at the top of the crease. The Stars would end the night with two empty net insurance goals from Curtis McKenzie and Lian Bichsel.

Alex Petrovic celebrated his 700th professional game.

Magnus Hellberg became the first Stars goaltender to start the season 6-0.
