PORTLAND, Maine – The Maine Mariners closed out a three-game home series against the Newfoundland Growlers with a 5-3 win on Sunday. Cam Askew of the Mariners opened the scoring early in the game, but the Growlers quickly evened it up with a goal from Keenan Suthers. The second period was dominated by Maine as they racked up a score of 4-1 with Owen Pederson contributing two goals and Gabriel Chicoine scoring the other.

Newfoundland’s Isaac Johnson scored to cut their deficit to two in the third but failed to get any more. They ended up falling to the Mariners 5-3 despite strong efforts during the final five minutes of the game. Goaltender Brad Arvantis was solid for the Mariners, stopping 34 of 37 shots he faced.
