PORTLAND, Maine – Saturday night, the Maine Mariners took on the visiting Reading Royals in the first of a two-game back-to-back weekend series.

After a scoreless first period, Jimmy Lambert opened up the scoring for Maine in the second. Alex Kile would give the Mariners a shorthanded goal, followed by an even-strength goal from Brooklyn Kalmikov later in the period to go up 3-1. Yvan Mongo would assist on Tag Bertuzzi’s goal in the second period and then score his own goal in the third. Owen Pederson scored an empty net goal in the closing minutes of the game for the Mariners, sealing their 4-2 win over Reading.
