BRIDGEPORT, Conn – The Bridgeport Islanders welcomed the Springfield Thunderbirds to an exciting game that ended with an Islanders’ 3-1 victory on Wednesday night. The Islanders are currently in last place in the Atlantic division, while the Thunderbirds are in 6th place with a significant but surmountable 7 points required to move to 3rd place in the division.
The game started with a quick goal by the Thunderbirds, followed by a scoring drought until early in the third period when Bridgeport tied the game. It wasn’t until the middle of the game when Bridgeport’s Carsen Twarynski scored his first goal in the AHL and gave Bridgeport the lead. The Islanders followed with a final goal only 18 seconds later to seal the game. The Islanders are still a whopping 12 points behind Lehigh Valley in 7th place, but the victory required a lot of discipline and hard work.
