WORCESTER, Mass – The Worcester Railers were hot, with a seven-game point streak and a come-from-behind 5-4 shoot-out victory the night before over the Trois-Rivieres Lions. All that came to a screeching halt on Saturday night when the visiting Lions scored three goals in the last 1:31 of the second period, in a span of 85 seconds to be exact. The outburst would put them up 5-1 at the end of two periods, essentially ending the game at that point, as the third period highlights consisted of a few minor scuffles.

Miguel Tourigny of the Lions would open the game scoring at 17:53 of the first period, the only goal scored in the first period. Worcester forward Blade Jenkins would quickly tie the game at 1-1 starting the second period, a wrist shot coming from the left slot beating Trois-Rivieres goalie Zachary Bouthier at the :34 second mark. Miguel Tourigny would get his second goal of the game, putting the lions up 2-1, beating Railers goalie Josh Boyko blocker side from deep in the left corner. The Lions three goal outburst had Charles-Antoine scoring at 18:29, Matthew Boucher at 19:17, and John Parker-Jones at 19:54, leaving six clicks of the clock to run out the second period.

Along with the Railers signing Josh Boyko this week out of the SPHL, they also brought back home, out of retirement, former Railers fan favorite Ross Olsson, who last played 71 games as the Captain of the Orlando Solar Bears in the 2022-23 season. The game was Ross Olsson’s 100th game played as a Worcester Railer.
