Jonathan Morello was born on July 31, 2006, in Toronto, Ontario. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound left-shot center is a powerful skater with top-end speed. During the 2021-22 season, Morello played for the Toronto Red Wings U16 AAA team and scored 14 goals with 20 assists in 34 games.

In 2022, Morello was drafted 260th overall in the 13th round of the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection by the Erie Otters but played in the Ontario Junior Hockey League for the St. Michael’s Buzzers and scored 16 goals with 24 assists in 51 games during the 2022-23 season and was an OJHL Second-Team All-Prospect.

The next season, Morello was drafted 97th overall in the seventh round of the United States Hockey League Draft by the Dubuque Fighting Saints but stayed with St. Michael’s and registered 25 goals and 32 assists in 50 games and won the OJHL Top Prospect Award.

Morello was chosen by the Boston Bruins with the 154th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Draft. The forward had committed to Clarkson University but has decommitted and will play with Dubuque again during the 2024-25 season.
