Prospect Profile: Philip Svedeback

Philip Svedeback was born on May 28, 2002, in Stockholm, Sweden. The goaltender spent two seasons with the Wings HC J16 team and finished with a 2.34 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage during the 2017-18 season. The next season, Svedeback moved on to the Vaxjo Lakers HC J18 in the J18 Elit League and posted a 2.33 GAA and a .927 save percentage. Promotion to the Allsvenskan league saw Svedeback struggle to a 4.17 GAA and a .867 save percentage. Svedeback would spend two more seasons with Vaxjo ending in a stint with the J20 team.

The Boston Bruins select Philip Svedeback in the Fourth Round of the 2021 NHL Draft

Svedeback was drafted by the Boston Bruins 117th overall in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound netminder was also drafted in the 2021 USHL Draft by the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the fourth round with the 50th overall pick. Svedeback spent one season with Dubuque and posted a 2.95 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

After that season, Svedeback committed to Providence College and has spent two seasons there. The left-catching goalie has played 69 total games with a 2.24 GAA and a .905 save percentage. Svedeback will enter his junior season with the Friars in 2024-25.
