The Boston Fleet will be taking on the undefeated New York Sirens on Sunday, December 8th. Boston is still looking for their first win, while New York is currently the only undefeated team in the league this season. The Fleet lost to the Toronto Sceptres, 3-1, on November 30th, and then lost 2-1 at home to the Minnesota Frost on December 4th. The Sirens have been on fire, coming out strong in both of their games so far this season. They have defeated the Frost 4-3, as well as the Montreal Victoire 4-1. Can the Sirens continue their dominant run, or will the Fleet finally find their footing and pull off a stunning upset?

– Gigi Marvin, former Boston Fleet forward who announced her retirement on October 7th, is making her PWHL debut in the broadcast booth today. She is a three-time U.S. Olympic medalist, and recorded a goal and three assists for the Fleet in 24 games during the league’s inaugural season.

– The top scorer for the Sirens is Sarah Fillier – 2 GP, 2-3-5 PTS, and the top scorer for the Fleet is Hilary Knight – 2 GP, 2-0-2 PTS.
– The New York Sirens opened this season with two games on the road, earning wins by the scores of 4-3 and 4-1. New York has scored at least four goals in four consecutive games, dating back to last season, which is the longest such streak by any PWHL team in the regular season.
– Sarah Fillier, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 PWHL Draft, picked up a pair of assists in the season opener, following that with two goals and an assist on Wednesday. The Sirens had three multi-point games in total from rookies – Chloe Aurard, 2 – Brooke Hobson, 1 – last season.
– Alex Carpenter has registered at least one point in 20 of 26 career games, which includes both this season. She is currently the only player to have a point in at least 20 different PWHL games.
– Dating back to last season, Jessie Eldridge has recorded multi-point performances in three straight games for the Sirens.
– Scoring her first goal of the season on Wednesday, Jade Downie-Landry had been the only Sirens player to record a hat-trick in season one, and it came in Boston on January 20th. Seven of her eight goals from last season were against the Fleet.
– Corinne Schroeder is the first goaltender of the season to earn two wins between-the-pipes – 2.00 GAA, .940 SV%
– Last season, New York and Boston met three times in the Tsongas Center, two of those games ending in overtime (the teams split those two OT games with goals by Alex Carpenter and Hannah Brandt). The other game had been a 4-1 Sirens victory, which was their first matchup ever between the teams.
– The Fleet has scored only one goal in each of their two games this season, both were scored by captain Hilary Knight. Last season, Boston went consecutive games with only scoring no more than one goal from March 2-6, the streak snapped against New York.
– Boston had been outshot in both of their games this season, averaging 19.5 shots. The Fleet averaged 28.96 shots-per-game last season and had tied for the league lead with eight wins in games where they had been outshot by their opponent.
– With her two goals for Boston this season, it’s Hilary Knight’s first time scoring in consecutive PWHL games in a single season (regular season and playoffs).
– With a .941 SV% (the best mark among goaltenders with multiple starts), Aerin Frankel ranks second in the league.
– Megan Keller currently leads the Boston Fleet in average time on ice at 21:54. Last season, she averaged 25:24 minutes per game.
