As the PWHL gears up for its’ second season, the contract that everyone has been waiting for was finally signed on November 1st. The New York Sirens signed Sarah Fillier to a one year contract for the 2024-25 season.
Fillier was the first round draft pick for the Sirens earlier this year. The Canadian native has had an extensive list of achievements before coming into the PWHL.
Fillier spent her college career at Princeton University. She played at the collegiate level from 2018-2024. Her first year in the NCAA, she played in 29 games, scoring 22 goals and earning 35 assists for a total of 57 points in the 2018-19 year.
Her sophomore year, Fillier earned the honor of being captain. In the 2019-2020 season, she played in 31 games and earned the exact same amount of assists and goals, for another 57 point year.
In 2022, FIllier went to Beijing to compete in the Olympics for Team Canada. She was able to help her team bring home the gold for her country.
After an incredible Olympic victory, Fillier went back to Princeton to finish out her college career. Still wearing the “C” on her chest, she scored 19 goals and earned 18 assists amongst 31 games for a total of 37 points amongst the 2022-23 season. Finally, in 2023-24, she played in 29 games, scoring 30 goals and earning 13 assists, for a total of 43 points.
Training camp for the PWHL begins later this month, on November 12th. With their training camp roster finalized and now Fillier signed to a contract, the Sirens are looking to start off on the right foot this upcoming season.
