Red Wings sign Amadeus Lombardi to Three-Year, Entry-Level Contract

On Friday afternoon, NHL agent Dan Milstein announced that his client and Detroit Red Wings prospect Amadeus Lombardi signed a three-year, entry-level contract.

Drafted in the fourth round, 113th overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Lombardi has been a pleasant surprise relative to his selection slot. The 19-year-old has been one of the most productive players in the OHL this season. In 31 games played with the Flint Firebirds, Lombardi has scored 21 goals and added 23 assists, ranking first in his club and fourth in the entire OHL.

Although this season has been a breakout season for Lombardi, he began to turn heads at the Red Wings development camp, where he pulled off “The Michigan” goal in a scrimmage.

Lombardi lacks NHL size at 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds, but with his high-end skating and playmaking ability, that may not be an issue for him at the professional level. With plenty of young talent being infused into Detroit’s minor league system, Lombardi will be able to develop alongside the future of Detroit.

While it is unclear whether or not Lombardi will make the jump to the pro ranks next season, signing a fourth-round pick from this past season who is on pace for nearly 100 points is likely a pleasant surprise for Red Wings management.
