For the Winnipeg Jets and Norfolk Admirals, it appears a new chapter is set to unfold soon…

On August 22, 2023, it was reported that NHL insider @WPGMurat may have revealed a game-changing move on the horizon. According to a tweet by @AavcoCup, it’s anticipated that the Jets and their AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose are on the verge of formalizing a new affiliation with an ECHL team by September 4th. This ECHL team very likely will be none other than the Norfolk Admirals.

The Norfolk Admirals’ current affiliation agreement with the Carolina Hurricanes is set to conclude, and with Carolina lacking an AHL affiliate due to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves opting for independent status, the stage seems perfectly set for Norfolk to bridge this gap. @WPGMurat’s insight, posted on The Athletic, has ignited speculation that the Jets and Moose are about to make an official announcement regarding their collaboration with the Admirals. This affiliation would hold benefits for all parties involved.

The Jets and Moose’s potential affiliation with the Norfolk Admirals would usher in a new era of development synergy. While Norfolk’s link to Carolina has been fruitful, the chance to work closely with an AHL affiliate like the Manitoba Moose would undoubtedly create a more streamlined player development path.

Jets fans and Admirals fans alike are now eagerly awaiting the official announcement, which will reshape the landscape of the teams’ player progression in the ECHL and AHL.
