Sabres Sign Dahlin To Massive Extension

Harry Scull Jr,/Buffalo News

After many extension rumors swirling around during training camp about franchise defenceman Rasmus Dahlin, the Sabres have finally locked him up. Signing a franchise-record eight-year, 11 million AAV contract cements Dahlin as the cornerstone of a Buffalo team on the rise. This extension comes on the heels of his best season to date, scoring 15 goals and adding 58 assists. He also led the Sabres in blocked shots.

Dahlin joins Tage Thompson, Mattias Samuelsson, and Dylan Cozens in signing long-term deals with the team. The Sabres have now essentially locked up their young core, with only an Owen Power extension and a couple of prospects getting big-boy NHL contracts away from really having everything down. Now it’s time for results.
