San Jose Sharks Acquire Vincent Desharnais From Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have had an active night already acquiring Luke Schenn and Tommy Novak from the Nashville Predators. Before that trade, they made a trade with the San Jose Sharks sending defenseman Vincent Desharnais to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a 2028 fifth-round draft pick. The Sharks also had an active day trading Vitek Vanecek to the Florida Panthers. Desharnais is now on his third team this season.

Desharnais is in his third season. The Edmonton Oilers drafted Desharnais with the 183rd pick. He’s playe 158 games recording 19 points on a goal and 18 assists. He’s a career plus-nine, has 238 blocked shots, and 253 hits. He played two seasons in Edmonton. Desharnais would play in 114 games recording 16 points on a goal and 15 assists. He was a +18, had 170 blocked shots, and 180 hits. In the offseason Desharnais signed with the Vancouver Canucks playing in 34 games and recording three assists. He was a mine-five and had 48 blocked shots and 54 hits. He was then traded to Pittsburgh on February 1st. In ten games with the Penguins, he failed to record a point. He was a minus-four, with 20 blocked shots, and 19 hits.
