San Jose Sharks Sign Filip Zadina

The San Jose Sharks announced the signing of forward Filip Zadina to a one-year contract worth $1.1 million. Zadina (23) was placed on waivers for the purpose of contract termination last week by the Detroit Red Wings.

Filip Zadina was the 6th overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft after spending one season with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, where he scored 82 points in 57 games. Zadina has struggled to find consistency in the NHL, scoring 68 points in his 190 games with 28 goals.

Filip Zadina only played 30 games last year after breaking his leg in early November. He was held scoreless in the first nine games, but Zadina did start to round into form after his injury, where he finished with 7 points in the last 21 games.

With the Sharks, Zadina should have every opportunity to carve out a top-six role and try to turn around his career. If Zadina can find his form again that made him worthy of being a top draft pick, Mike Grier and the Sharks might have a steal on their hands.
