Silovs Sharp In Canucks Preseason Win

Arturs Silovs almost stole the show and sent the Canucks to the third round last Spring, after a seven game series against the Edmonton Oilers.

So, what did he do in his first preseason game last night against the Seattle Kraken? He picked up right where he left off. Stopping 18 of 19 shots, some of the difficult variety, including a late-game push by the Kraken.

Silovs, the game’s first star, told Canucks rinkside reporter, Olivia McDonald, “Guys played real well offensively and defensively. It felt great. It was amazing to play our first game at home, especially the crowd, it’s fantastic energy all around, so I think that helped us a lot to perform better.”

Head coach Rick Tocchet said he liked the effort and thought some of the kids played well, “Silovs obviously played very well,” he stated post-game.

The Canucks got goals from Nils Hoglander, Filip Hronek, and an empty netter from Pius Suter to finish off a 3-1 victory on home ice.

The Canucks celebrated Indigenous Truth and Reconciliation during the ceremonial puck drop. And were joined by both youth and leaders from the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. They always do a great job with these ceremonies and did once again. Hats off to all involved.

Their next preseason tilt is tonight at the Abbotsford Centre against the Calgary Flames at seven pm Pacific. The team stated that players will be signing autographs upon arrival tomorrow, so bring your jersey and Canucks gear.
