The Macon Mayhem announced yesterday afternoon that they have acquired defenseman Michael Greco from the Quad City Storm in exchange for forward Dominic Dumas. Michael Greco is a 26-year-old defenseman hailing from Orillia, Ontario, recognized for his aggressive playing style.

Career Highlights

He kicked off his professional journey in Sweden with Ånge IK, where he spent two seasons, amassing 28 points (8 goals, 20 assists) and 152 penalty minutes over 33 games. Greco made his SPHL debut with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs and has since represented several teams, including the Evansville Thunderbolts, Pensacola Ice Flyers, and Quad City Storm. Throughout his SPHL career, he has gathered 140 penalty minutes and five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in 41 games. This season, prior to his trade to the Macon Mayhem, Greco played in nine games with the Quad City Storm, adding 35 penalty minutes and averaging about 3.9 PIM per game. His defensive skills and physical presence have proven to be valuable assets for his team.

Impact on Macon Mayhem’s Defense

Greco is set to join the Macon Mayhem for their upcoming games, including the trio of home matchups against the Peoria Rivermen starting Friday, December 13. His arrival is anticipated to strengthen their defense and introduce a powerful physical element to their gameplay. Additionally, Greco will likely help enhance the Mayhem’s penalty kill. Known for his ability to protect teammates and maintain a physical edge during games, Greco’s reputation precedes him, making him a formidable opponent that teams recognize for his defensive ability and readiness to engage in physical confrontations when needed. While he may not be the top point scorer for the team, his physicality will certainly make him a crucial part of the defensive side of the team for Macon.
