Takeaways from the Bill Guerin Mid-Season media availability

Minnesota Wild General manager Bill Guerin met with media, giving more clarity with rumors and potential moves being made. He also provided insight into his opinion of where the team is right now.

  • He believes that the team is in a good position right now, but with their division and the league, that can change at any moment.
  • A big focus point that the coaching staff has for the team is demanding more out of the players.
  • With the arrival of Reaves via trade, Guerin believes he gives the team and everyone more confidence and has an energy that the team was lacking.
  • Most surprised by Gusstavson this season. They believed in him, but he has played exceptionally well and knows what is expected of him.
  • With the trade deadline, Guerin reveals if something presents itself, they will look at it. If they are doing well, they’ll look at ways to improve or possibly stay the same.
  • He is a big believer in culture and chemistry of a team, and right now, they are doing extremely well with that; messing it up could be detrimental to their success. But if one is made, they are professionals and know that it’s for the best.
  • Getting Boldy re-signed was at the top of the list. Contract discussions for other players haven’t begun yet.
  • Alex Goligoski will continue to be scratched, but Guerin is in regular contact with him.
