Thatcher Demko Suffers Injury

Last night the Vancouver Canucks picked up a 2-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. During the game, the Canucks lost their goalie Thatcher Demko who left the game just ten minutes in. The injury is undisclosed at this time but he was seen shaking his left leg during warmups and went to the bench and talked to head coach Rick Tocchet. Demko stopped all six shots he faced before being replaced by Kevin Lankinen. Demko missed 24 games to start the season after he suffered a knee injury in last season’s playoffs. He also left the January 2nd game against the Seattle Kraken with back spasms.

Demko has spent all eight seasons of his career with the Canucks. The Canucks drafted Demko 36th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft out of Boston College. Demko finished his college career going 62-26-10 with a 2.67 goals against average and a .928 save percentage. He’s appeared in 236 games going 122-87-20 with a .911 save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average. He finished second in Vezina Trophy voting last season. He made 51 starts last season going 35-14-2 with a .918 save percentage and a 2.45 goals-against average. This season since returning in 17 games he is 6-6-3 with a .891 save percentage and a 2.87 goals-against average. He will now have two weeks off to hopefully get healthy and return as the Canucks look to make the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2
