After a rocky start to the season for the Utah HC goaltending tandem, the team announced Wednesday that Jaxson Stauber was recalled from the Tucson Roadrunners.
Karel Vejmelka and Connor Ingram have the team’s go-to goaltending tandem for the last three seasons, with Ingram getting the main count of reps last season under the Arizona Coyotes name.
Hopes were high Ingram would continue at the tune of his .907 save percentage and 2.91 goals against average, but that has not been the case this season.
In just 18 games on the year, Ingram hosts the better record at 6-4 (.871 SV% – 3.61 GAA) but Vejmelka has been better statistically with a .915 SV% and 2.58 goals against average (1-4).
Stauber has been the team’s main backstop in Tucson with a 2.29 GAA and a .930 SV% on the year along with a 5-2 record.
Stauber appeared in six NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season, bolstering a 5-1 record, with a 2.81 GAA and a .911 SV%.
Stauber’s Utah HC debut date has not been announced yet, but the team plays in Boston for the first of a four game Eastern Conference road trip on Thursday.
