Woll Makes Season Debut as Leafs Face Bedard: Leafs Game Preview 3

Maple Leafs Goaltender Joseph Woll in Warm-ups Preparing for Start

With two wins for the Leafs and two hat-tricks for Auston Matthews, the Leafs are back for their third game of the season. Tonight, the Leafs face off against Bedard, who is regarded as the next superstar in hockey. Bedard has a wicked shot that he has modeled after Matthews while adding unique elements. The Leafs will look to keep Bedard off the scoreboard tonight and hope to start the season with a three-game win streak.

Leafs Projected Lineup

Three Things to Look Out For

Woll

After suffering an injury in the 2021-2022 season, there were many questions about whether Woll had an NHL future. Sure enough, he came back in 2022-2023 and had a killer start with the Marlies. This continued on as he got looks with the Leafs with Murray injured. Woll looked ready for an NHL job and has now earned one. Woll will get his first start of the season tonight, and with Samsonov’s start being shaky, there are surely more minutes available to be won.

McCabe

Jake McCabe has been penciled in by many as Muzzin’s replacement, and we have yet to fully see that on the ice. McCabe hasn’t played up to his full potential here in Toronto yet and has made some costly mistakes, but as he gets used to playing with a new defensive structure and linemates, he will surely improve. McCabe has the potential to contribute on both ends of the ice, and as he faces off against his former team, he will look to have a solid showing.

Domi

Max Domi has been embraced by many Leafs fans largely in part due to his father’s time in Toronto, but Max is going to make a name for himself with the Leafs. Domi is a feisty playmaker and will look to provide some offense for the third line tonight, as he’s starting with Knies and Minten. Knies and Minten struggled early with Jarnkrok, and Keefe has adjusted the lines, adding Domi to the rookies’ line. Keep an eye on Domi tonight as he looks to pot his first goal in a Leafs uniform or set up Knies and Minten for their own goals.

Tonight’s game starts at 7:00 PM EST on Sportsnet!
