Arizona Coyotes Arena Update

The Arizona Coyotes owner and chairman Alex Meruelo has put together a bid to buy a parcel of land near Mesa, Arizona, per The Coyote’s official announcement. The Eastern-Based suburb of Phoenix, Arizona, has been a prime location for the team and has expressed interest in housing the team since the No Vote on the Tempe arena. Meruelo , per the team’s announcement, remains committed to this arena being privately funded and, as they are waiting on news on this bid, will continue to look for other sites. This news is a feather in the cap on what has been a busy offseason for the team, as they have made additions to push the team forward both on and off the ice.
If this spot falls through, the team is convinced there is several more locations available in Mesa, Phoenix, and Scottsdale that will work. The Eastern part of the valley is the more populated area, and the team definitely looks to be trying to take advantage of that. This is great news for a beleaguered Coyotes fanbase who have taken their lumps and remained loyal. Between the arena search and the upgrades to the on-ice product, the Coyotes will be a team to keep an eye on through the rest of 2023.
