Boston Pride’s Paige Capistran Retires from Professional Hockey

The two-time Isobel Cup champion and former Northeastern captain Paige Capistran announced today via the Boston Pride’s Twitter account that she will be retiring from pro hockey to focus on her career on television with NESN or New England Sports Network. Capistran currently works as an assistant content producer for NESN. From what it looks like on the internet, she will be working on a TV in front of the camera.

The first inkling that we had of Capistran’s retirement came from this tweet.

Then the Boston Pride officially confirmed her retirement from the team’s Twitter account.

Capistran was a strong presence on the blueline for the Boston Pride. At the same time, she didn’t put up a ton of points for the Boston Pride. That wasn’t a bad thing. She did what she needed to do as a defensive defenseman. She has a fantastic career in college as well for Northeastern. The most points she ever put up in college was 12 points, but that season she had a +/- of 32. Her lack of scoring didn’t bother anyone because she was named captain and the Pride took her 30th overall in the 2020 draft.

She will be missed on the blue line, and her retirement is the first roster move that we officially know of from the Boston Pride of the off-season. Because of this move, albeit a retirement, Boston has finally made a roster move! The Pride has a history of announcing their roster in one go.
