ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Mike Gillespie Out Long Term With An Upper-Body Injury

Cody Conine/InsideTheRink

The injuries continue to pile up in Glens Falls as Adirondack Thunder Head Coach Pete MacArthur announced that forward Mike Gillespie will be out of the lineup for a bit after suffering an upper-body injury in Saturday Night’s game vs. Trois-Rivieres Lions, “If I’m not speaking out of place, we’re looking at six to eight weeks” said MacArthur about Gillespie. The New York native has four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 30 games and has been one of the more consistent players in the Thunder lineup this year with call-ups and injuries to the team. The Injury couldn’t have come at a worse time as the Thunder are without T.J. Friedmann, who hasn’t played since December 23rd, and have been without their captain Patrick Grasso; MacArthur said there’s a chance he could play on Friday vs Reading, but wouldn’t commit to it, “It’s literally day to day for him” when talking about Grasso.

MacArthur also mentioned that he and Bergin have a lot of lures out there and mentioned they need about four of five players to come in because they might have guys missing extended time, and the trickle-down from New Jersey and Utica isn’t perfect at the moment. They will likely also be without Zach Walker for a bit as we await a ruling from the league on his suspension.
