ECHL Announces a Fine and Suspension | 2/20/25

ECHL Fines and Transactions

The ECHL Department of Player Safety announced on Thursday that Kansas City’s Daniel Amesbury, nicknamed “Diamond Hands,” has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount following his actions in Tuesday’s game against the Allen Americans.

Amesbury’s suspension comes from a game misconduct penalty for being the aggressor at 5:33 of the second period, violating Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline. Because of this, he will sit out Kansas City’s matchup against Allen on Friday night.

On a more positive note for KC fans, despite Amesbury’s absence, the Mavericks managed to secure a hard-fought 3-2 win over the Allen Americans that night, pushing their record to an impressive 32-12-4-1. This victory keeps them firmly in first place in the Mountain Division, with a seven-point lead over the Tahoe Knight Monsters. The race is tight in the Western Conference however, as the Toledo Walleye currently hold a slim two-point advantage over the Mavericks, adding some extra excitement to the playoff picture after last season’s Western Conference Finals between the two clubs.

As for Amesbury, he’s had a mixed season. While he’s only managed to record one point (an assist) across 24 games, he’s made headlines for his physical style of play, accumulating a jaw-dropping 127 penalty minutes.
