Cam Johnson, hailing from Troy, Michigan, began his career at the University of North Dakota, where he led his team to a national championship in 2016 and earned All-American honors. Transitioning to professional hockey, Johnson first signed with the New Jersey Devils and played in both the AHL and ECHL. His tenure with the Florida Everblades has been particularly successful, winning the Kelly Cup three times (2022, 2023, 2024) and becoming the first player to win consecutive Kelly Cup MVP awards. Known for his resilience and clutch performances, Johnson’s career is marked by his ability to excel under pressure and his consistent standout performances.
Recently, Johnson was named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for November 11-17, marking the fourth time he has received this honor. During that week, he recorded two shutouts, stopping all 17 shots in a 1-0 win at Orlando and making 23 saves in an 8-0 victory at Greenville. Under contract to Springfield, he is tied for the ECHL lead with six wins and two shutouts, ranking third with a 1.42 goals-against average and seventh with a .935 save percentage.
Throughout his career, Johnson has appeared in a total of 164 ECHL games with both Florida and Adirondack, achieving a record of 92-50-17 with 14 shutouts, a 2.39 goals-against average, and a .917 save percentage. He received the June M. Kelly Playoffs Most Valuable Player Award after the Everblades’ Kelly Cup championships in 2022 and 2023. In the AHL, he has played 53 games with Charlotte, Cleveland, and Binghamton, posting an 18-25-8 record with one shutout. Prior to turning professional, Johnson played 102 games at the University of North Dakota, with a record of 56-26-12, 12 shutouts, a 2.10 goals-against average, and a .914 save percentage.
