ECHL Game Recap: Adirondack Thunder vs Tahoe Knight Monsters | 02/08/2025

Tahoe Knight Monsters/ECHL

The Adirondack Thunder and Tahoe Knight Monsters wrapped up their three-game series on Saturday Night as the Thunder looked to go home with a couple of points, and the Knight Monsters looked to stay golden after winning the first two games of the series. For the second straight game, it would be the Thunder that got on the board first as Dylan Wendt would fire home his seventh of the season at the 3:16 mark to get the party started. It wouldn’t take long for the Knight Monsters to respond 1:13 later; Bear Hughes would put home the rebound off a shot from Sloan Stanick and put it past Brennan to tie the game up at one apiece.

“Very excited for those two, they come in they work their buts off they do all the little things to get that 1% better everyday and they’ve come in and they’ve shown the wanna be here, they wanna work, they wanna earn their ice time and I’m very excited to find them on the scoresheet this weekend”

In the second, it would be another quick goal by the Thunder as Gustav Muller would put home a rebound off a shot from Adrian Bisson for his first career ECHL goal and became the second Thunder in two days to get their first ECHL goal. Saturday’s game proved to be one of the more physical games, and it showed as Adrian Bisson and Bear Hughes would drop the gloves at the 9:45 mark of the middle frame, picking up the second piece of the Gordie Howe Hat-Trick. Tahoe would have some good chances in the second and finally be rewarded at the 18:26 mark as Simon Pinard took a long-range shot and beat Tyler Brennan for his third goal in two games. Adirondack and Tahoe would head into the third period tied up at two.

“Our Division is super tight, going into the night there was seven points between first and fifth so those six points, especially those two tonight are really big”

In the third, both teams would get their chances, and at the 14:48 mark, Adam Pitters would feed Jake McGrew for his third goal in three games as the Knight Monsters took the lead with a little over five minutes to go. Adirondack, who looked like they’d be heading back East empty-handed, would pull Tyler Brennan with a little over a minute left, and it would be T.J. Friedmann who scored with 55 seconds left in the game to tie it up and send the game to overtime as the Thunder were guaranteed at least one point. In the OT period, it would be all Thunder as they would get the first three shots on goal but would be denied by Jesper Vikman. Tahoe would get their first shot of the OT period at 4:04, and Sloan Stanick would tip in a shot from Jake Stevens to complete his three-point night. The Knight Monsters stayed golden, picking up all six points as the Tahoe Golden Monsters.

“Ya, it felt pretty nice to get it and for us to get those two points was really big for our group and they wanted to win and we were lucky again to win and tonight and to see that crowd was great, couldn’t have asked for a better crowd”

Adirondack will now head back East to begin a seven-game series with the Trois-Rivieres Lions, while Tahoe will welcome the Wichita Thunder to town next weekend.
