GLENS FALLS, NY- The Adirondack Thunder saddled up on Saturday Night to host the Trois-Rivieres Lions on Country Night in front of a packed barn at the Cool Insuring Arena in their country-themed jerseys, “I thought they were clean and simple, I liked them, I think they looked pretty sharp to be honest with you” said Head Coach Pete MacArthur. Adirondack came out hot in the opening frame, outshooting the Lions 16-5, and despite neither team being able to find the back of the net, each side had their chances, including a three-on-one by the Lions where they failed to get a shot on goal. The Thunder would get the first three power-plays of the game, including a four-minute PP in the middle frame. Through two periods, Lions goaltender Zachary Emond had stopped all 34 saves he saw, and would finish the night with a season-high 40 saves.

Adirondack would finally break through as Dom Marcinkevics would put up home a rebound in front of a shot from Brendan Less at the 7:35 mark of the third period, “Ya, of course, the first is behind me just gotta keep working for more,” said Marcinkevics on scoring his first career ECHL goal. During yesterday’s post-game press conference, Head Coach Pete MacArthur touched on the PP, and tonight, on their fourth attempt, they would finally break through as Shane Harper found Tristan Ashbrook in front for Ashbrook’s 16th of the season. Shane Harper would add an empty-netter with 1:01, and Vinnie Purpura would make 16 saves for his first career ECHL shutout as now all three goaltenders on the Thunder this year have recorded a shutout, “The guys in front of me played unreal; it was one of those games you’re not facing many shots, honestly sometimes more than a battle than seeing a lot of shots, for me I just took it five minutes at a time, and it worked out.” Adirondack has now won two straight after dropping four straight games on the road.
