Adirondack Thunder Forward Shaw Boomhower Celebrates a goal vs Maine Mariners
Dakota Gilbert/Adirondack Thunder

The Adirondack Thunder and Maine Mariners kicked off a three-in-three to finish the regular season. Adirondack would get some reinforcements back on Friday Night as Kevin O’Neil, Darian Skeoch, and Shaw Boomhower all returned to the lineup. For Boomhower, it was his first game since January 26th. Boomhower would make his presence felt right away as he dropped the gloves with Jackson Stewart shortly after Stewart delivered a hit to the head of Dennis Busby; Stewart would get an extra two minutes for his hit.

Ya, he’s really good hockey player, it’s unfortunate he hasn’t been able to stay healthy early in his career. You can see what type of impact he has, it;’s not just the physicality, he can play the game and he does what we ask and I’m just really happy for him”

Adirondack would take advantage on the PP as Caden Villegas fed Kaleb Ergang for his fifth of the season and fourth against the Mariners. Adirondack would also outshoot Maine 9-2 in the opening 10 minutes. The Maine Mariners would have some solid pressure in the Thunder zone to start the second half of the period. Matthew Philip fed Brooklyn Kalmikov for his 21st goal of the season and 53rd point, both of which are career highs. Adirondack would get a two-on-one late in the period as O’Neil would take the shot and beat Brad Arvanitis for his 19th of the year with 1:30 left to give the Adirondack Thunder a 2-1 lead.

“Ya, the goals aside the win was the most important part, that was super exciting especially in front of these fans”

Kaleb Ergang on his two-goal night

Adirondack Thunder would get a golden chance early in the second on the PP as Kevin O’Neil made a beautiful move to feed Brian Carrabes, who appeared to have had his first career goal, but Brad Arvanitis made an unbelievable save to keep the game tied at one. Maine would also get a PP opportunity, as they couldn’t convert as they would be down 2-1 heading into the third. Maine wouldn’t waste any time tying up the game in the 3rd as Jackson Edward picked up his first career goal on a shot from the point as the game was tied at two, less than a minute into the third period. Shaw Boomhower continued to put his mark on the night as Kishaun Gervais led him on a breakaway, picking up his first goal since November 8th, 2024. Kaleb Ergang and Ian Pierce added empty-netters to seal the 5-2 victory.

“Ya, it’s unreal. It’s one of those things where it’s nice to be a new face in the locker room and a little fresh sets of legs and I couldn’t do it without those guys, they do everything”
