ECHL: Ghost Pirates Burn the Solar Bears On Their Own Beach

In a thrilling match-up between the Savannah Ghost Pirates and the Orlando Solar Bears, the Ghost Pirates emerged victorious with a 2-0 shutout against their opponents. The game was marked by the outstanding performances of goaltenders Colten Ellis for the Solar Bears and Michael Bullion for the Ghost Pirates.

The Solar Bears hosted a meaningful event on their military appreciation day by organizing a fundraiser for the Central Florida Warriors hockey team. In a heartwarming display of support, proceeds from ticket sales were donated to this organization. The Central Florida Warriors Hockey team offers a recreational, therapeutic experience and educational opportunities for injured and disabled members of the US military and veterans. This initiative by the Solar Bears not only raised funds but also helped raise awareness about the important work being done by the Central Florida Warriors Hockey team in supporting those who have bravely served our country.

The scoring started halfway through the first period when Brent Pedersen of the Ghost Pirates found the back of the net, securing his third goal of the season. The Ghost Pirates held onto their lead until four minutes into the second period when Ryan Scarfo added to the tally, scoring his first goal of the season. Scarfo was assisted by Fromm-Delorme, who has already racked up five assists this season.

While the Ghost Pirates showcased their offensive prowess, scoring two goals, they also displayed their physicality with a total of four penalties throughout the game. Scarfo, in particular, had a busy second period, receiving two penalties for slashing and roughing.

Despite the efforts of Ellis, who faced a total of 22 shots on net and made 20 saves, the Solar Bears were unable to find the back of the net. Ellis has played five games this season for the Solar Bears and has maintained a solid goals-against average of 2.89 and a save percentage of 0.908.

On the other side of the ice, Bullion of the Ghost Pirates was in stellar form, turning away all 28 shots faced to secure his first shutout of the season. Bullion has played a total of six games and boasts a goals-against average of 2.99 and a save percentage of 0.895.

The Ghost Pirates’ defense remained resolute throughout the game, even when the Solar Bears pulled their goaltender for an extra skater in the dying minutes of the game. The Ghost Pirates successfully defended their lead, denying the Solar Bears any chance of a comeback.

For their exceptional performances, Pedersen and Scarfo were named the other stars of the game alongside Bullion. Both teams struggled on their power plays, with the Ghost Pirates having one advantage and the Solar Bears having four but failing to convert.

This victory was crucial for the Ghost Pirates, boosting their morale as they improve their season record to 3-6-0-0. The Solar Bears, currently holding a record of 5-4-0-1, will need to regroup and rebound from this loss.

Although the game may have had fewer goals and penalties than usual, the intensity remained high, and the Ghost Pirates emerged as the victors, leaving their mark on the night’s hockey action.

On Wednesday, November 15th, the Solar Bears will take to their home ice once again as they face off against the Florida Everblades. The Solar Bears will be looking to bounce back from their recent defeat against the Ghost Pirates and secure a victory on their home turf. Meanwhile, the Ghost Pirates will also be defending their home ice on Thursday, November 16th, as they battle against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Following their triumph over the Solar Bears, the Ghost Pirates will be riding high on confidence as they look to extend their winning streak and capture another victory.
