ECHL: Kansas City Mavericks Announce Playoff Roster

The Kansas City Mavericks have had an exceptional season, demonstrating their unwavering resilience and determination to secure the Brabham Cup as the ECHL Regular Season Champions. They have also extended their affiliation with the NHL’s Seattle Kraken and AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds. Max Andreev and Cade Borchardt were named to the ECHL All-Rookie, and Patrick Curry was named to the All-ECHL First Teams this year. Max Andreev was further recognized as the ECHL Plus Performer of the Year. The Mavericks were the first to secure their spot in the Kelly Cup Playoffs on March 3rd, concluding the season with a remarkable 54-12-4 record.

By winning the Brabham Cup, the team has solidified its unity and camaraderie, guaranteeing Home Barn advantage throughout the playoffs. Today, it proudly announced the Roster that will grace that ice, a testament to its collective strength. The Playoff Roster consists of a maximum of 24 Players, a 20-man active roster, and a four-man reserve list.

On that Roster for the Mavericks, we have:

Forwards: Captian Jake Jermko, Alternate Captian Cole Coskey, Casey Carreau, Kyle Jackson, Justin Nachbaur, Nolan Walker, Jeremy Mckenna, Maxim Andreev, Patrick Curry, David Cotton, Cade Borchardt, Jacob Hayhurst. Reserve listed: Brad Schoonbaert, Nolan Sullivan

Defensemen: Alternate Captian Jake McLaughlin, Theo Calvas, Marc-Olivier Duquette, David Noel, Ryan Jones, Nate Knoepke. Reserve listed: Justin MacPherson, Jakob Brahaney

Goalies: Jack LaFontaine and Cale Morris

Heading into the playoffs, the Mavericks boast impressive Goal and Assist numbers, a testament to the individual brilliance of each player. Their Forwards have a combined total of 254 goals. Patrick Curry, who broke the team’s single-season goal record, led with 39 goals, closely followed by Jacob Hayhurst with 37. Their Assist totals are even higher, reaching a combined total of 390. Max Andreev, who set a new franchise record, leads with 54 Assists, and Cade Borchardt is right behind with 53. The Defensemen have contributed 25 Goals, with Marc-Olivier Duquette scoring nine of those, followed by Nate Knoepke with five. For Assists, the Defensemen have 35, with Ryan Jones leading with 21, closely followed by Marc-Olivier Duquette with 20. In goal, Jack LaFontaine has a 2.77GAA with a .911SV%, and Cale Morris has a 2.58GAA with a .911SV%. 

The Mavericks have three Players who have played over 95% of the games this season. Forward Patrick Curry leads with 72 games, 39 Goals, and 48 Assists, followed by Cade Borchardt with 71 Games, 24 Goals, and 39 Assists. Lastly, defenseman Marc-Olivier Duquetter played in 70 games, scoring nine goals and 20 assists. Both Goalies had one shutout this season with a combined win record of 37.

These guys know how to move the puck and get into a position to put the points on the board. The Mavericks have appeared in three playoffs since joining the ECHL in 2014. Before that, they were in the Central Hockey League and had seen the finals five times. The Mavericks face off against the Tulsa Oilers in the first round starting April 17th at 7:05 CDT.
