ECHL: Maine Mariners Sign Forward from University of North Dakota

The Maine Mariners have announced the signing of forward Griffin Ness. Ness is 24 years old and from Wayzata, Minnesota. He is just coming off this fourth year playing with the University of North Dakota. In the 2020-2021 season, he had two points in 18 games. The following season, Ness had two goals and four assists in 36 games. For the 2022-2023 season, he scored five goals and one assist for six points in 27 games. This season with the team, he had three goals and three assists in 30 games. Before playing at the University of North Dakota, Ness played three seasons with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the USHL, starting at the end of his high school hockey career in the 2017-2018 season. In five games with the Black Hawks that season, he recorded one assist. Ness wore a “C” for his following two seasons. During the 2018-2019 season, he had a total of 33 points from 16 goals and 17 assists in 57 games. In his final season with the team, he had a total of 44 points from 20 goals and 24 assists in 45 games. 

The Mariners only have six regular-season games remaining this year. They’re currently third in the North Division but have not quite yet clinched a playoff spot. The Mariners have two games in Worcester this weekend against the Railers, who sit in fifth place. The Mariners’ final four games of the regular season will be against the Adirondack Thunder, who are first in the division.
