ECHL: Norfolk Admirals Add Grit and Leadership, Sign Forward Keegan Iverson

I’ll admit, signing a forward who put up just one goal and 134 penalty minutes in 67 games last year doesn’t sound ideal, but let’s look at how this signing will be good for the Admirals.

Admirals Fans, Meet “Future Considerations”

On July 24, 2023, The Norfolk Admirals announced the signing of 27-year-old forward Keegan Iverson for the 2023-24 season. The move follows a trade from February with the Rapid City Rush, where the Admirals exchanged Jimmy Soper’s playing rights for future considerations. Enter Keegan Iverson.

“I am super excited to join the Admirals,” said Iverson. “I’m really looking forward to the season getting started with this group.”

From 2013 to 2017, Iverson played for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, serving as their captain for the 2016-2017 season. Iverson’s prior captaincy experience with the Winterhawks has proven invaluable, demonstrating his ability to lead and inspire his teammates. His leadership will have a significant impact on the Admirals’ locker room, fostering a culture of unity that can elevate the team’s performance to new heights. Head coach of the Admirals, Jeff Carr, had this to say:

“His versatility, along with his brash style of play, is rare to find. His top attributes are size, physicality, can play forward and defense, and always wants to win at all costs.”

With his exceptional leadership, grit, and versatility, Iverson is set to be a solid addition to the Norfolk Admirals roster.
