This divisional recap summarizes the North Division teams in the ECHL, focusing on their standings, recent game results, player milestones, and key statistics. One of the milestones that happened over the last week was Worcester’s Anthony Repaci becoming the all-time franchise leader in points. Here’s the rest of the action from the North Division in the past week.
Wheeling Nailers (8-3-1-0, 1st Place)- The newest team in the North Division is currently the top team in the Division as they took all three games last week, including a weekend sweep against the Indy Fuel, which included a 5-2 win on Saturday where they had just 19 shots on goal. Earlier Monday, they had 19 shots in a 5-2 win against the Fort Wayne Komets.
It’s an easy week for the Nailers as their only game of the week will be on Saturday Night as they continue out of conference play as they’ll head on the road to play the Fort Wayne Komets in the fourth of nine straight out of conference games for Wheeling.
Norfolk Admirals (6-4-3-0, 2nd Place)- It was a tough weekend for the Admirals as their eight-game point streak ended on Friday night as they would drop the first of two games last weekend vs Toledo Walleye. One of the big struggles for the Admirals was their PP, which went 0/8 on the weekend, and goaltending, which gave up 11 goals in two games, as Norfolk is the only team without an NHL/AHL-contracted goalie. Norfolk will play two games next week as they’ll host Reading on Wednesday before heading up to Reading on Friday.

Reading Royals (6-8-2-0, 3rd Place)- The Royals enter the week having played the most games in the Division despite sitting in third Place. The Royals would start their weekend in Maine as they suffered an OT loss to the Mariners after scoring with less than 15 minutes in the game. Reading then headed to Adirondack for a three-in-three, where they dropped the opening two games before exploding for seven goals to snap a four-game losing skid. The Royals will wrap up their four-game road trip on Wednesday night in Norfolk before returning home on Friday to play the Admirals before welcoming Maine to town on Saturday.

Trois-Rivieres Lions (6-3-2-0, 4th Place)- The Lions are coming off a strong weekend at home as they took home five of a possible six games this weekend after hosting the Mariners on Friday and then the Railers on Saturday and Sunday as they improved to 5-1-2-0 at home this season. This is massive for the Railers, especially seeing that they played either one or two men even due to injuries and suspensions. It will be a rematch with Worcester this weekend, as the Lions will play in Worcester on Saturday and Sunday.
Adirondack Thunder (6-2-0-1, 5th Place)- After playing just six games in the first month of the season, the Adirondack Thunder played their first three-in-three of the weekend against the Reading Royals as they took four of a possible six points over the weekend. The Thunder’s perfect PK streak was ended this weekend after Adirondack killed the first 22 penalties they took this season. Despite sitting in fifth place, the Thunder have the best winning % (.722%) in the North Division and fifth best in the league. Adirondack will begin a four-game Southern road trip Wednesday with games against the Jacksonville Icemen, Savannah Ghost Pirates, and South Carolina Stingrays.

Worcester Railers (6-7-0-0, 6th Place, 12pts)- The Railers are coming off a busy week in which they went 1-3, with their only win of the weekend coming in a 4-3 OT loss on Saturday, which was much needed after a rough 8-1 loss at home on Friday Night. Antony Repaci would pass Barry Almeida on Saturday Night to become the Railers franchise leader in points (151). The Railers will play three games this week, beginning Wednesday night in Maine, before hosting the Trois-Rivieres Lions on Saturday and Sunday.
Maine Mariners (4-8-0-0, 7th Place, 8pts )- It’s been a rough start for the Mariners out the gate, and things didn’t get much better for the Mariners as they started off the weekend with only their second road game of the season on Friday Night in a 4-1 loss to the Trois-Rivieres Lions. Things went from bad to worse for the Mariners when they returned home as they dropped both games to the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday and Sunday while being outscored 11-1 in the two games. It’s a light week for the Mariners as they will host the Worcester Railers on Wednesday before heading to Reading to play the Royals on Saturday.
