ECHL: Peters Named Florida Everblades Assistant Coach

Anthony Peters between the pipes for the Florida Everblades.

With the recent loss of former assistant coach Jesse Kallechy after he was named head coach for the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL. The Florida Everblades were on the hunt for a new assistant coach. General Manager and Head Coach Brad Ralph named former goaltender for the Everblades Anthony Peters the new Assistant Coach for the 2023-2024 upcoming season. Peters, 32, who is a Blyth, Ontario native, played in between the pipes for three seasons wearing an Everblades jersey. Could his history with the team play a role in how he coaches alongside Ralph?

Brad Ralph could not be happier about having “Petey” back in the swamp, according to a press conference that happened shortly after the announcement.

“His knowledge of the game, combined with his passion and dedication, makes him a perfect fit for our coaching staff. We are confident that his contributions will help us continue our success and defend our back-to-back Kelly Cup Championships.”

When he was with the Blades, he compiled a record of 60-31-4 with a .920 save percentage. Currently, the coaching staff lacks a goalie coach, making it highly likely that Anthony Peters will play both roles.

When looking at Peters’ history, he also backstopped the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL and had playing time for four seasons up in the American Hockey League (AHL). He recently just played overseas in Slovakia, where he was on the ice for a total of 34 games and had a .910 save percentage. Anthony Peters will officially call it a career and hang up his pads. However, fans can still see him involved in the game with the Florida Everblades in Estero, Florida, at Hertz Arena.
